En junio de 2014, ICI, en colaboración con la Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo, presentó el Curatorial Intensivo en la Ciudad de México, el tercer programa desarrollado íntegramente en español. Curatorial Intensive es el primer programa breve de formación para curadores sobre conceptos, logística y organización de exposiciones, eventos públicos y otros formatos discursivos. Los temas discutidos incluyeron el desarrollo del campo curatorial y el rol del curador, explorando iniciativas de investigación, proyectos independientes, colecciones y desarrollo institucional, nuevas arquitecturas financieras, entre otros temas.


In June 2014, ICI, in collaboration with Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo, presented a Curatorial Intensive in Mexico City – the third program conducted entirely in Spanish. The Curatorial Intensive is the first short-course program to offer training to curators on the concepts and logistics of organizing exhibitions, public events, and other discursive formats. Topics under discussion included the developments of the curatorial field and the changing role of the curator, while exploring research-based initiatives, independent projects, collections and institutional building, and new financial architectures, among other topics.

Direlia Lazo (b. La Habana, 1984) is an art historian from Universidad de la Habana.

Alba Colomo is a Spanish curator based in the UK.

Ana Maria Maia (b. Recife, 1984) is a curator based in São Paulo.

Bárbara Cuadriello (b. 1985) studied Art History at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla and since 2011 she has been working in the research department at the Colección Isabel y Agustín Coppel.

Stéphanie Noach conducts research, writes, teaches, and curates exhibitions.

Silvia Alejandre Prado is currently director of the Galeria de Arte Contemporaneo of the Instituto Veracruzano de Cultura, where she has worked since 2012.

Julieta González is Senior Curator at the Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City and Adjunct Curator at the Bronx Museum in New York.

Bruce Altshuler is Director of the Program in Museum Studies in the Graduate School of Arts and Science at New York University.

Manuel Borja-Villel

Manuel Borja-Villel has been the Director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía since January 2008, where he has led the reorganization of the permanent collection.

Juan A. Gaitán

Juan A. Gaitán (Canada/Colombia, b. 1973) is a writer and curator, based in Mexico City and Berlin.

Carlos Motta

Carlos Motta’s (Colombia, 1978) multi-disciplinary art practice documents the social conditions and political struggles of sexual, gender, and ethnic minority communities in order to challenge dominant and normative discourses through visibility and self-representation.

Inés Katzenstein

Inés Katzenstein is the inaugural director of the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Research Institute for the Study of Art from Latin America at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
