Curatorial Intensive New York Fall 2010

Oct 24, 2010 – Nov 1, 2010

New York, NY, USA

New York, NY

ICI presents the Curatorial Intensive for emerging curators internationally who want to learn about curating in the public realm. From an open competition, 14 individuals are selected by a jury to study, with some of today’s leading practitioners working within the rapidly growing field known as public practice.

In participating in a rigorous schedule of workshops, discussions, critiques, and individual advisement sessions, as well as visits to local institutions and conversations with artists, participants are trained to develop their ideas into full proposals. Topics discussed include logistical issues such as commissioning, producing, and installing projects in public spaces and concepts ranging from site-specificity to social and political engagement.

After the New York phase of the project is complete, ICI will continue to work with participants long-distance to finalize their proposals for publication on ICI’s website so the public and the hundreds of institutions in partnership with ICI can read the final proposals.
