Artists and performers Alice Bag and Johanna Went, both featured in the exhibition Axis Mundo: Queer Networks in Chicano L.A., reflect on their relationship to the networks of artists in the exhibition, the evolution of the punk scene in Los Angeles, and the changing role and representation of female performers.

The program will include a walk through the exhibition, followed by a moderated discussion.

Alice Bag is a singer/songwriter, musician, author, artist, educator, Chicana activist, and feminist. Alice was the lead singer and co-founder of The Bags, one of the first bands to form during the initial wave of punk in Los Angeles. She went on to perform in other groundbreaking bands, including Castration Squad, Cholita, and Las Tres.

Johanna Went is a Los Angeles-based performance artist. She has been collaborating with musicians and interacting with audiences and a vast array of costumes, sets, props, and found objects since the early days of punk performance at clubs in the 1980s.
