Phyllis Lally Seevers Founder of Mister Fahrenheit, NY

Alex Eagleton ATHANATOS, 2021 Oil, alcohol ink, reflective glass beads, flocking, afromosia artist’s frame 24 × 18 in Courtesy of the artist and Mister Fahrenheit, New York Value: $4,500

"ATHANATOS is an intensely intimate extension of Eagleton's Candle series. The work gets to the heart of the moment Eagleton is after – the second just before our candle (of life) is blown out."

Daniel Boccato owlpainting, 2021 Acrylic, colored pencil, graphite, ink, oil pastel, paper, plywood, polyurethane finish 33 1/10 × 23 3/5 × 4/5 in Courtesy of the artist and Mister Fahrenheit, New York Value: $3,000

"I have loved this new body of work by Daniel since seeing it for the first time in his studio. He is a master of binaries, early on with his parrots and women, and now with recalibrating narratives around man and owl from ancient mythology."

LaKela Brown Untitled, 2021 Framed embossed cotton paper and gold leaf 24 × 18 in Courtesy of the artist and Reyes | Finn, Detroit Value: $3,500

"Brown realizes a level of relief in this work that is difficult to achieve with paper. Her embossed impressions of doorknocker earrings channel the power of her plasters, reading like a small ancient relief tablet adapted with an alphabet from 90s hip-hop culture."

Larry Ossei-Mensah Independent Curator

Sanford Biggers BAM (for Tamir), 2017 High Polish Bronze 15 × 3 × 3 in Edition 8 of 12 + 3AP Courtesy of the artist and Marianne Boesky, New York/Aspen Value: $18,000

"Sanford Biggers has been making very thoughtful work about the complexities of America's sin of slavery and institutionalized racism, and the continued impact of this on our society. In this sculpture he addresses the awful truth of America's history of police brutality particularly skewed toward Black men, and in this case a black child, Tamir Rice, who was shot by a white police officer in Cleveland in 2014, while playing with a toy gun. I see this sculpture as paying homage not only to this child, but to the countless other Americans who are killed by the police every day. Biggers reminds us in this evocative sculpture that embraces esthetics of African sculpture, that every single one of these victims was loved and deserves to be cherished, and also deserves to be given it's power back."

Alvin Baltrop The Piers (two men) Framed Silver gelatin print 25 2/5 × 20 3/10 in Courtesy of The Alvin Baltrop Trust, © 2010, Third Streaming, NY, and Galerie Buchholz, Berlin/Cologne/New York Value: $10,000

"Baltrop's astute eye and his wonderful sense for composition is on vivid display here. In this body of work, he documented a specific, and almost mythical era of the 70's in NYC's history, when poverty and crime were rampant, but amazing art was being made all over the city by pioneering figures such as Baltrop. He shone a light on a gay community that was being marginalized, and he brought out the humanity, beauty and sensitivy of the members of this community."
