ICI's patrons, board members, and friends visited James Cohan Gallery to view the latest exhibition of work by Elias Sime, joined by Intensive alum Fitsum Shebeshe (Addis Ababa, 2014, and curator of the ICI exhibition States of Becoming). Shebeshe discussed his impactful experience in ICI's Curatorial Intensive in Addis Ababa, which took place in the Zoma Contemporary Art Center (now Zoma Museum) that was co-founded and built by Elias Sime and Meskerem Assegued (both Intensive faculty members). We were then led on a guided walkthrough of Sime's exhibition by Sime and Assegued, with gallery founder James and Associate Director Celine Collazo. FINAL DROP (የመጨረሻዋ ጠብታ) features new woven electrical wire assemblages from the artist’s ongoing Tightrope series, which represent the movement of material goods across the globe while illuminating the fragility of our networked existence.
