ICI gathered an eclectic group of collectors, patrons, cultural workers, and friends for an intimate visit inside The Lumpkin–Boccuzzi Family Collection, one of the most significant collections of work by artists of African descent. Bernard Lumpkin reflected on his experience building the collection and developing relationships with artists, and joined curator Lauren Haynes (Curatorial Assembly, New Orleans 2017) for a conversation about the traveling exhibition and accompanying book drawn from the collection: Young, Gifted and Black: A New Generation of Artists. Together, they  underscored the importance of bringing exhibitions to university and college museums, how those spaces expand access, and ensuring more communities can see themselves reflected on the walls. These same values are critical to ICI's traveling exhibitions program, and reflected in the work of the curators who collaborate with us. Our sincere thanks to Bernard Lumpkin for generously opening his home!
