As part of ICI’s Curator’s Perspective—an itinerant public discussion series featuring national and international curators—Catherine David will speak about her current research and recent exhibitions.
Catherine David is the Deputy Director of the Musée National d’Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where she has spearheaded the museum's global outreach embracing an international scope to art practice and culture, and which included for instance a 2015 partnership with the National Gallery of Singapore to strengthen the presentation of the art histories of Singapore and Southeast Asia within a global context. David was Artistic Director of the groundbreaking documenta X (1997) in Kassel, Germany, and was Director of the long-term project Contemporary Arab Representations since 1998. For this presentation, Catherine David will discuss recent curatorial projects and artists she is most interested in at the moment.
