Curatorial Intensive alumna Aline Shkurovich will lead a conversation with artists Natalia Porter and Alva CalyMayor. Both Porter and CalyMayor were recently featured in Liminal (September 2015 at Estación Indianilla Centro Cultural, Mexico City), which was the second of a trilogy of exhibitions, curated by Shkurovich in New York and Mexico City.
The project examines the development of a group of artists considering the often non-linear relationship of cause and effect, and tremors between space and time. The aesthetic and processes of the artists play wittily with notions of anticipation, fragility, and vulnerability but consider critically the problematic issues of their time and identity.
For this presentation at the Hub, An Exhibition in 3 Acts: Foreshock, Liminal, Replica will explore the development of this evolving idea, discussing the challenges and opportunities faced along the journey: an on-and-off collaboration between a group of artists in the span of three years.
