Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.
Annie Fletcher

Annie Fletcher is currently Curator of Exhibitions at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, and tutor at De Appel, Amsterdam. She recently curated “After the Future” at eva International Biennial of Visual Art in 2012. Other projects include solo exhibitions or presentations with Sheela Gowda, David Maljkovic, Jo Baer, Jutta Koether, Cerith Wynn Evans, Deimantas Narkevicius, Minerva Cuevas, and the long term projects, Be(com)ing Dutch (2006-09) and Cork Caucus (2005) with Charles Esche. She was co-founder and co-director of the rolling curatorial platform “If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution” with Frederique Bergholtz (2005-10). As a writer she has contributed to various magazines including Afterall and Metropolis M. She is currently working on the “Museum of Arte útil” with Tanja Bruguera, which will open in the fall of 2013 at the Van Abbemuseum.

This 3–day forum on curatorial practice is offered in Mumbai in collaboration with the Mohile Parikh Center (MPC). It develops directly out of the successful prior collaboration, “What Is Curating?” an intensive hands-on series of workshops organized by ICI and MPC in December 2010.

The Now Museum: Contemporary Art, Curating Histories, Alternative Models conference, co-organized by the Ph.D. Program in Art History at the CUNY Graduate Center, Independent Curators International, and the New Museum, aims to tackle key questions around the museum as an institutional entity and contemporary art as an art historical category.
