Amy L. Powell is Curator of Campus Arts Research at Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research engages contemporary art with a commitment to university art museums as sites for knowledge production and experimentation. Her exhibitions at KAM have included solo projects with Louise Fishman, Kennedy Browne, Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme, Autumn Knight, Zina Saro-Wiwa, and the group exhibitions Attachment and Time / Image. Previously the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Curatorial Fellow at Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston, she organized projects with Zineb Sedira, Clarissa Tossin, Anna Campbell, and Antena. Her work has been supported by the Henry Luce Foundation, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Institute for Research in the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a Ph.D. in art history.
