This year’s Curatorial Forum brought together over 40 mid-career and established curators from 20 U.S. states. In addition to guided site visits to the fair and cultural institutions in Chicago, the curators participated in a series of closed-doors sessions led by Allison Glenn, Dana Kopel, Amy Sadao, and Susana Tempkin. The sessions examined questions of racial equity in the curatorial field, in relation to the artists and communities we serve, labor conditions, and the role of curators and museums in shaping and preserving collective memory.

Cesáreo Moreno

Cesáreo Moreno (Chicago, IL) has been with the National Museum of Mexican Art since 1992. He has been the Visual Arts Director since 1995, and was named the museum’s first full time Chief Curator in 2004.

Heather Nickels

Heather Nickels joined the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art (MBMA) in August 2019 as the Joyce Blackmon Curatorial Fellow of African American Art and Art of the African Diaspora.
