Cheyenne Wyzzard-Jones has taken on the roles of Curator, Educator, and Writer for the past ten years. Their work is deeply grounded in and informed by Black Indigenous Queer technologies and histories; technologies that disrupt white dominant concepts of time, gender, borders, and extreme systems of punishment that have altered a natural order. Their curation exists as a storytelling method, orchestrating puzzle pieces together through different interdisciplinary mediums to tell a collective story. Cheyenne showcases the work of Black, Indigenous, and Queer contemporary artists whose values in artmaking and art practice are aligned with the mission of her company, Spiritual is Political. With a focus on arts and culture, Cheyenne holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Development & Social Change from Clark University and Master of Arts in Comparative and International Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Their work has been discussed in the likes of The Theatre Offensive, TEDx, The Void Academy, CRWN Magazine, and The Queens Museum. You can see her curatorial exhibition, Black Shedding(s), at The Longwood Art Gallery summer 2024.
