Amber Nax (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and independent curator, native to Detroit, MI. Nax received her B.F.A from Wayne State University with a concentration in Black American and African history, contemporary art, and folklore. Her professional journey has spanned arts administration, programming, urban farming, and museum studies.
Amber Nax brings archives to life, evoking collective memories of the past. From archival photos to her great-grandmother's quilts, Amber infuses these moments in time with renewed energy and meaning. Inspired by the way archives reveal the past, validate the present, and inform the future, Amber strives to create connections across these temporal spaces. Through her work, she uses art as a bridge to explore and deepen our understanding of shared experiences.
