In this role, Ledesma works towards strengthening the NCMA’s 20th-century and contemporary art program across the People’s Collection, exhibitions, and outdoor projects in the Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park, while also overseeing the exhibition program at SECCA. Previously, Ledesma was Senior Curator at the Akron Art Museum in Ohio, where he oversaw the reinstallation of the museum’s permanent collection, successfully defended the acquisition of works by Vanessa German and Zanele Muholi, and co-curated the museum’s presentation of FRONT International 2022: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art. Before this, Ledesma was Associate Curator at the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa, where he oversaw acquisitions by Edie Fake, Louis Fratino, Zoe Leonard, Alfredo Ramos Martinez, Carrie Moyer, Catherine Opie, Sheila Pepe, and Hedda Sterne, and organized exhibitions including the award-winning Queer Abstraction; Manos: Latin American Art from the Des Moines Art Center’s Collections; Susan Rothenberg as Printmaker; Hedda Sterne: Imagination and Machine; and I, too, am America. Prior to this, Ledesma held curatorial and administrative positions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Richmond Art Center in Richmond, CA.
