ICI supporters and friends gathered at Cipriani Broadway to celebrate 50 Years of Curatorial Impact, honor ICI’s unparalleled global network of cultural leaders, and recognize its lasting impact on the curatorial field. For this 50th Anniversary year, ICI selected a group of honorees to receive our annual Leo Award who each embody and enacts one of the core pillars of ICI’s vision for its future: Mariane Ibrahim (Empowering Curators), Julie Mehretu and Paul Pfeiffer (Promoting Innovation), and Helen & Peter Warwick (Championing Curators’ Impact on Communities). The Leo Awards, which resembled a barrel, were inspired by the artwork of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, long-serving ICI Trustees whose work brought people together in deeply meaningful ways. The awards were produced by Urban Art Projects (UAP) in partnership with the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Foundation, and each presented by curators Marie Hélène Pereira, Kathy Halbreich, and Christine Y. Kim.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and a seated dinner and, after the presentation of the awards, helped raise donations for ICI's Access Fund, which supports our traveling exhibitions and learning initiatives and furthers ICI's ongoing impact on the global curatorial field.
