As part of ICI's Intensives in Action series, curator Marisol Rodríguez (Curatorial Intensive alum, Dakar 2016) gave an Instagram Live tour of her exhibition Cromosoma Comic o las modernxs prometexs/Chromosome Comic or the Modern Prometheans, on view at Biquini Wax, Mexico City from February 4–April 4, 2023. Developed during the Curatorial Intensive, Chromosome Comic explores the practices of 18 artists who integrate into their work the narrative languages of comics, cartoons, animations, virtual universes, and cosplay to reveal and interrogate sociocultural forces. Informed by the genealogy of institutional exhibitions held over the last 55 years on the relationship between comics and art, Chromosome Comic proposes a contemporary and decentralized reading of a creative phenomenon that has interested art historians for decades.

Intensives in Action programs showcase how alumni of our flagship professional development program, the Curatorial Intensive, have brought their Intensive proposals to life. The Curatorial Intensive has, since 2010, taken place in more than 25 cities around the world and engaged almost 500 international curators. During the program, participants develop proposals for exhibitions, research, programs, or other projects through intensive study, with the guidance of international mentors, and in conversation with a cohort of peers.

Encompassing tours, texts, talks, and other content, Intensives in Action programming highlights the work and process of Curatorial Intensive alumni through the lens of these proposals, the projects they become, and the many dynamic career trajectories they shape.
