This iteration of ICI’s Curatorial Seminar was conceived as a new professional development initiative to address the needs and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting emerging curators and their local communities in New York.
With a focus on cultural rebuilding, the program brought together five curators from across the city to engage, online and in-person, in discussions about their work, their communities, and the role of curatorial practice in organizing artistic communities during times of crisis. This initiative fostered the creation of a supportive network of like-minded peers who share common values.
The Curaorial Seminar also offered participants tailored mentorship sessions to meet their specific needs. The program provided international perspectives and curatorial models through online lectures and seminars, and in-person networking opportunities. These activities facilitated the exchange of knowledge and resources among curators working within and for their local communities.
The Curatorial Seminar is made possible by ICI's Board of Trustees.
