This version of the Curatorial Seminar was conceived as a new professional development initiative to address the needs and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting emerging curators and their local communities in New York.
Focused on cultural rebuilding, the program brought together five curators based in the city to exchange on their work, their communities, and how curatorial practice can help organize artistic communities in these times. It helped create a small and supportive network of peers, around shared values.
The Seminar provided the curators with mentorship sessions, tailored to their needs; access to international perspectives and curatorial models through online lectures and seminars; as well as in-person networking opportunities to encourage the sharing of knowledge and resources among curators working in and for their local communities.
