Independent Curators International (ICI), in collaboration with Dar al-Ma’mûn, presents the inaugural Curatorial Intensive in Marrakech, Morocco.

Following ICI’s Curatorial Intensive in Addis Ababa with the Zoma Contemporary Art Center (ZCAC) in 2014 and Johannesburg with The Bag Factory Artists’ Studios in 2013, ICI continues to support curatorial training in Africa and develop regional networks with the Curatorial Intensive in Marrakech. The program focuses on the cultural landscape of West Africa and the Maghreb while also exploring the role of curators working for local and international audiences.

Salma Lahlou

Graduated both in curatorial studies and law, Salma Lahlou worked as the vice-president of the National Museums Foundation of Morocco, she founded Thinkart in the fields of visual arts and curatorial practices in January 2015.

Rosa Lleó

Rosa Lleó is a curator and writer based in Barcelona. She is founder and director of the small-scale organization The Green Parrot.

María del Carmen Carrión is an independent curator and art critic from Quito, who received an MA from the Curatorial Practice Program at California College of the Arts, in San Francisco, and taught at Universidad Católica in Quito.

Omar Berrada co-directs Dar al-Ma’mûn in Marrakech.

Hassan Darsi

Hassan Darsi’s artistic practice is strongly infused with his experiences, his daily life, and his environment, which manifests in his process, through multiple mediums and often in the form of participatory projects.

Florence Renault-Darsi is an art historian and curator.

About Dar al-Ma’mûn
Dar al-Ma’mûn is an arts center located in a rural area on the outskirts of Marrakech. For four years, it has developed residencies for artists, writers, and researchers, as well as publishing initiatives and translation programs in the fields of art and literature. Dar al-Ma’mûn has a multilingual lending library that is free and open to all, seven days a week. It organizes public programs, as well as educational activities with children and adults from the neighboring villages. Dar al-Ma’mûn is sponsored by the Fellah Hotel.
