Claire Breukel, chief curator of MARTE Contemporary at the Museum of Art of El Salvador, along with co-editor Simon Vega and publisher Mario Cader-Frech, have launched a new publication titled Y.ES, Collect Contemporary Art El Salvador. The “Y” in Y.ES references the Y-generation as the book addresses the past decade of work produced in, and about, El Salvador—“ES”.
This publication contains 28 interviews regarding contemporary art production in El Salvador, the art market, and the impact of the internet, among other topics. Interviewees include: Alanna Heiss, Alanna Lockward, Amy Cappellazzo, Bonnie Clearwater, Brandi Reddick, Celia Birbragher, Christy Turlington Burns, Ella Fontanals-Cisneros, Elvis Fuentes, Ernst Hilger, Dr. Harper Montgomery, Irvin Morazan, José Ruiz, Kency Cornejo, Marc Spiegler, Maria Bonta de la Pezuela, Mauro Herlitzka, Mayra Barraza, Patricia Gardner Amare, Ronald Moran, RETNA, Roberto Galicia, Roger Atwood, Sam Keller, Simón Vega, Tom Healy, Walterio Iraheta and Zelika Garcia, as well as essays by publisher Mario Cader-Frech and editor Claire Breukel.
