Celebrate do it

May 9, 2013

EVERYWHERE

On May 9, 2013, ICI, W Magazine, and Burberry hosted a dinner in celebration of do it: the compendium, at the Park Avenue Armory, New York. The soiree was highlighted by the enactment of do it instructions by Uri Aran and Yoko Ono, a live performance by Burberry Acoustic musician Roo Panes, and DJ set by artist Eddie Peake. In May, Hans Ulrich Obrist, ICI and D.A.P. celebrated the launch of do it: the compendium, in partnership with Burberry, and together with W Magazine and our colleagues at MoMA PS1. From May 9 to 13, a series of events around the latest do it publication gave New York city an orange glow: ICI, W Magazine, and Burberry kicked off the celebrations with a dinner marking the launch of do it: the compendium, at the Park Avenue Armory (May 9); ICI presented two do it limited editions, by Mariana Abramovic and Stephen Kaltenbach at NADA, New York (May 10–12); do it was featured at D.A.P.'s bookstore at Frieze, New York (May 10–13); Burberry hosted an exclusive conversation with Kate Fowle, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Richard Wentworth, and Uri Aran (May 11); and finally we all celebrated the book with a signing at MoMA PS1 (May 12).

do it coming to a venue near you!
Beginning in May, do it is taking place all over the world, including Socrates Sculpture Park (New York), with the very first do it (outside); and Manchester Art Gallery, as part of the Manchester International Festival with the most comprehensive do it exhibition to date, presenting rooms dedicated to the 20-year archive, do it (TV), and an homage to do it artists no longer living. Starting this spring, do it exhibitions will also take place at Gund Gallery at Kenyon College (Gambier, Ohio), tranzit (Budapest, Hungary), MU artspace (Eindhoven, Netherlands), Samek Art Gallery at Bucknell University (Lewisburg, Pennsylvania), and many more to come.

Thank you to Burberry for generously supporting the launch of do it: the compendium by donating 10% of all purchases from their Bleecker Street, 57th Street and Spring Street stores from May 9–12.
