Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.
Sonel Breslav
Sonel Breslav is an independent curator and the founder of Blonde Art Books, a Brooklyn based organization dedicated to promoting self-published art books through exhibitions, book fairs, talks, and online exposure. Breslav has organized exhibitions and events at venues such as Present Company, Brooklyn, NY; PS1, MoMA, Queens, NY; ICA, Philadelphia, PA; Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh, PA; Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, OH; Hyde Part Center, Chicago, IL; Schema Projects, Brooklyn, NY; Dorsky Curatorial Programs, LIC, NY; and The Silent Barn, Brooklyn, NY. The first book published under the Blonde Art Books imprint, Kitsch Encyclopedia by Sara Cwynar, was launched in April 2014. Breslav received her MA from UCL, London in 2010 and her BFA from University of Buffalo - State University of New York in 2005. She currently works at Murray Guy, New York.
