Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.
Snejana Krasteva
Snejana Krasteva is a curator at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow. Born in Bulgaria, she graduated from Nanjing University in China. From 2004-2007 she managed the gallery Beijing Tokyo Art Projects before joining the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art. Since then, she has worked as a curator for Art on the Underground in London where she realized a series of projects and commissions in the public realm. At Garage, she co-organized the conference Performance Art: Ethics in Action, the first conference on this topic in Russia; curated the exhibition The Other Side, exploring the alternative scene in Moscow; and is currently curator of the Field Research program – a cross-disciplinary research body whose aim is to produce new material on a wide range of overlooked or underrepresented social and cultural phenomena in Russia.
