Ariana Faye Allensworth is a New York-based artist and cultural worker interested in how culture, memory, and power interact with land and the built environment. Through community-engaged research, curatorial practice, and cultural organizing, she creates projects that mobilize Black spatial memory, belonging, and more just relationships to place.
Recent curatorial work includes As Land Remembers, an exhibition at Marian Goodman Gallery featuring alumni of Denniston Hill, and a publication on Black creative placemaking for BlackSpace Urbanist Collective. She is developing a long-term project rooted in Allensworth, California, a historic Black Freedom Town founded by her ancestors, that seeks to deepen relationships between artists, communities, and the social and ecological landscapes of the San Joaquin Valley.
From 2020–2026, Ariana led global diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy at IDEO, working at the intersection of organizational culture, design, and systems change. Previously, she led programs at The International Center of Photography, Youth Speaks, and The Center for Cultural Power that supported emerging artists and expanded access to creative practice. Allensworth is a 2026 Whistle Space Summer Institute resident, and was a 2025 Working Artist Fellow at Pioneer Works. She has participated in residencies and fellowships with ProArts Gallery, The Laundromat Project, and NEW INC.
