Pojai Akratanakul is a Bangkok-based curator, researcher, and cultural producer. Her work and research focus on institutional critique and the development of art institutions and the artist career in Thailand, as well as sociopolitical issues and contemporary art of Southeast Asia.

Pojai was Co-curator of Bangkok Art Biennale 2024: Nurture Gaia; and also Curatorial Affairs Section Lead and Assistant Curator for the previous two editions of the biennale (2020, 2022), and The Spirits of Maritime Crossing, a collateral event to the 60th La Biennale di Venezia which featured 15 artists from Southeast Asia. Her contributions also extend to public programming and publications, including the book Anish Kapoor: Cosmos, Void & Motherhood. Before her extensive work with the biennale, she built a foundation of experience in exhibitions and publications in both Bangkok and New York City, and also managed The Petch Osathanugrah Collection.

She holds an MA in Visual Arts Administration (Curatorial Concentration) from New York University, and has lectured on curatorial studies, art history, and contemporary art at various institutions including at Chulalongkorn University.

Recent independent curatorial projects include What Cannot Be Forgotten, Must Be Celebrated at Bangkok University Gallery (2025), Area 721,346 (2023) and Footnotes on Institution (2019), both at Gallery VER. As a member of the collective Charoen Contemporaries, she also co-curated PostScripts, a site-responsive public art project (2018), and Early Years Project 4: Praxis Makes Perfect at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (2019). Forthcoming projects include solo exhibitions of Naraphat Sakarthornsap (SAC Gallery), and Kanokwan Sutthang (WarinLab).

Pojai is on the Acquisition Committee of the national collection, OCAC, Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, and co-juried Silpathorn Award (2025). She is currently Project & Research Manager of the 2nd Timor-Leste Pavilion at the 61st La Biennale di Venezia.
