Marco Calderón

Based between Paris and Lausanne, Marco Calderón is a Franco-Mexican curator and researcher in contemporary art whose work moves between research, exhibition-making and audience engagement. His projects create spaces for dialogue between artists, institutions and publics, with a focus on cultural exchange between Mexico and Europe and on the social, political and economic dynamics that shape artistic production. His curatorial approach brings together critical inquiry, exhibition history, transnational art circuits and the infrastructures that sustain contemporary art.
Trained in Mexico and Paris, he studied Visual Arts at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM) and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). He holds an MBA in Art Market and Curatorial Studies from IESA and is currently completing a PhD in Aesthetics and Art History at Université Paris 8, where his research examines national representations in the Venice Biennale, cultural diplomacy and the politics of international exhibitions. From February to July 2025, he developed curatorial projects and public programmes at artists in residence air-Montreux (Switzerland), fostering exchanges between artists, local partners and international networks. Since October 2025, he has served as Art Advisor and Director of Curatorial Projects at AMES – Asociación de Artistas Mexicanos en Suiza, where he leads exhibition development, curatorial strategies and cross-cultural collaborations. Combining curatorial practice, visual arts training and experience in the art market, Calderón brings a multidisciplinary perspective to art research, cultural strategy and the creation of meaningful artistic encounters.
