Cheyenne Wyzzard-Jones is an interdisciplinary researcher, curator, writer, and educator. As an independent curator and critic, and serving as Head Curator of Spiritual Is Political, they produce exhibitions and build networks for contemporary artists. Their curatorial approach centers material realities and text as research, alongside community ensemble-building, using techniques drawn from stagecraft and spatial design to create exhibitions that tell layered stories. Their work includes collaborations with organizations such as The Luminary, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Indigenous Curatorial Collective, The New Museum, and The Longwood Art Gallery. As a critic, their goal is to write thoughtfully about artists’ work by examining the fullness of the artist and their practice, and by holding that work in dialogue with the contemporary art canon. Their love for contemporary art is rooted in a commitment to creating spaces where audiences can experience what is, what was, and what could be.
