Dr. fari nzinga is a writer, curator and educator, based in Louisville, KY. nzinga works at the Speed Art Museum as the inaugural Curator of Academic Engagement and Special Projects with the goal of expanding the museum's robust program of exhibitions, publications, and learning opportunities. Prior to joining the Speed, nzinga was most recently a visiting professor and scholar in residence at the bell hooks center at Berea College, where she taught courses in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies, and coordinated bhc programs. She also brings experience as an arts organizer, as the cofounder of the Color BLOC, an information-sharing network for emerging artists of color. She has previously held positions at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, and Kalamazoo College, and received her Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Duke University.
