Peter Hutton

Peter Hutton (1944–2016, United States) was an experimental filmmaker, artist, and cinematographer who spent nearly forty years voyaging the globe, frequently by cargo ship. His work covers such diverse landscapes as northern Iceland, the Yangtze River, and the Polish city of Łódź. Hutton graduated from San Francisco Art Institute, where he studied painting, sculpture, and film. He taught filmmaking at CalArts, Harvard University, SUNY Purchase, and other institutions. He was the director of the Film and Electronic Arts Program at Bard College. In 2008 the Museum of Modern Art, New York, held a full retrospective of his films.

Peter Hutton lived and worked in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
