Wooloo

Wooloo (established in 2002) is Sixten Kai Nielsen and Martin Rosengaard. Wooloo constructs site-specific sculptures and interventions with the aim of imagining new social systems. In 2009, Wooloo organized the housing of 3,000 international activists with local Danish families during the UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen. Supplying the infrastructure for visitors to come and voice their opinion––and for strangers to share their homes and experiences––the work became a large-scale exercise in communal cooperation, and the beginning of the ongoing Human Hotel project. Other Wooloo works have been presented at such venues as Artists Space, New York (2004); the Third Guangzhou Triennial, Guangzhou (2008); Manifesta 8, Murica (2010); the Sixth Momentum Biennial, Moss (2011); and the Socle du Monde Biennial, Herning (2012), among other places. Wooloo was nominated for both the International Award for Participatory Art (2011), as well as the Visible Award (2011). Since 2002, Wooloo has been operating wooloo.org, an online community for participatory projects that connects the resources of more than 27,000 cultural producers internationally.
