John B. Ravenal is the Sydney and Frances Lewis Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. His recent projects include solo exhibitions by Xu Bing, Sally Mann, Chuck Close, and Diana Al-Hadid. He is currently organizing exhibitions connecting Jasper Johns and Edvard Munch, and exploring the late work of Sol LeWitt. John recently completed a two-year term as president of the Association of Art Museum Curators and was a 2012 Fellow at the Center for Curatorial Leadership.
