Rayyane Tabet

Drawing from experience and self-directed research, Rayyane Tabet (b. 1983, Achkout, Lebanon) explores stories that offer an alternative understanding of major socio-political events through individual narratives. Informed by his training in architecture and sculpture, his work investigates paradoxes in the built environment and its history by way of installations, interventions and performances that reconstitute the perception of physical and temporal distance.

In recent years, Tabet has had solo exhibitions at the MUDAM Museum (2023), Walker Art Center (2021), Sharjah Art Foundation (2021), Storefront for Art and Architecture (2020), Parasol Unit Foundation of Contemporary Art (2019), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (2019), The Louvre Museum (2019), Carée d’Art Musée d’Art Contemporain (2018) and at the Kunstverein Hamburg (2017). His work was featured in numerous international group shows, among which the 2nd Islamic Arts Biennial (2025), the 80th Whitney Biennial (2022), the 7th Yokohama Triennial (2020), the 2nd Lahore Biennial (2020), the 21st Sydney Biennial (2018), Manifesta 12 (2018), the 15th Istanbul Biennial (2017), the 32nd Sao Paolo Biennial (2016), the 10th and 12th Sharjah Biennial (2011, 2015) and the 2nd New Museum Triennial (2012).
