Each box includes a set of limited-edition plates produced in collaboration with Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s studio and exclusively for ICI’s Benefit in a Box. Entitled Running Fence (plates), 2021, the edition depicts Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s 1976 Running Fence, the iconic installation that ran 24.5 miles through Sonoma and Marin Counties, California, and into the Pacific Ocean. The edition is a tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude, ICI’s late and longest-serving Trustees, whose work brought people together in deeply meaningful ways. INDIVIDUAL boxes will receive one (1) set of three (3) plates, DELUXE level boxes receive two (2) sets, PREMIUM boxes receive four (4) sets.
Benefit in a Box also brings ICI's programming into your home with a postcard set by Latinx artist Joiri Minaya from the exhibition Notes for Tomorrow, which has traveled to Haverford, PA; Calgary, Canada; Nanjing, China; and will soon be on view in a city near you!
Box purchasers will also enjoy a magnetic folding globe by Areaware designed by Brendan Ravenhill, which features Buckminster Fuller's patented borderless map of the world representing ICI's work in more than 70 countries. Desserts are provided by Cuarentena Baking, co-founded by David Ayala-Alfonso, an ICI Curatorial Intensive alumnus and curator of Never Spoken Again: Rogue Stories of Science and Collection. Additional box contents include a bottle of Dom Ruinart Blanc Vintage 2009 champagne (Premium Boxes only), handcrafted bottled cocktails by Wandering Barman, issues of Art in America and ARTnews, and more!
In addition, Artists’ Circle boxes include a limited edition by Pat Steir, Curators’ Circle boxes include a limited edition by Kahlil Robert Irving, and Global and Leadership Circle boxes include the 2021 ICI Artist Commissioned Limited Edition to be announced in October!
