Artforum recently featured the exhibition With Hidden Noise as a part of their “Critics’ Picks” section. The exhibition was installed at the Glyndor Gallery at Wave Hill in the Bronx, and Artforum critic Allison Young writes that Wave Hill’s public garden and architectural surroundings interacted powerfully with the exhibition’s exploration of listening.
“This is an exhibition about listening, wherein Vitiello traces a lineage for contemporary sound art in the charged silences of Fluxus performances, as in John Cage’s seminal 4’33”, which forced audience members to acknowledge the sounds of the concert space or of their own restless bodies.”
