Performance by Kioshi Yamamoto at Håholmen, Coast 2019.

ICI and Coast Contemporary have partnered to launch an open call for two Curatorial Research Travelers to participate in the 2023 edition of Coast Contemporary.

Coast Contemporary is a nomadic platform for discourse and art that brings together Norwegian and international curators, artists, and cultural workers for a multi-day program of performances, talks, screenings, and a conference program along the coast of Norway. Coast Contemporary fosters international exchange between colleagues and prospective collaborators by slowing down and making space for new connections. The venues and curatorial focus change for every edition. The guest curator for the seventh edition is Valentinas Klimašauskas, curator, writer, and co-curator of the Lithuanian pavilion at the Venice Biennale Arte 2024.

Coast Contemporary 2023 will take place in the Lofoten Islands in the county of Nordland in the north of Norway from Monday, September 18 to Friday, September 22, 2023. For more information on previous programs, participating artists and institutions, or questions about the upcoming edition, please visit coastcontemporary.no or email office@coastcontemporary.no

Travel and accommodation will be provided by the Norwegian Consulate General in New York.

Eligibility: This opportunity is available to Curatorial Intensive alumni, former Curatorial Research Fellows, or Curatorial Seminar paticipants from or currently based in the U.S. Curators working independently or with institutional affiliations may apply.

Applications: Applications should be sent as a single PDF by email to Zoe Dobuler, Programs Coordinator, at zoe@curatorsintl.org by April 9, 2023 and should include:
