Oko Goto

Oko Goto is a curator working in the field where art and life, well-being, and care ethics meet. Goto is attentive to how art relates to lived experience and discursive contexts, which informs Goto’s approach to exhibition-making. Since 2017, Goto serves as Curator at Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito in Ibaraki, Japan.

Recent projects include Aki Kondo: What I Saw, When I Tore Myself Open (2025), Sudo Reiko: Making NUNO Textiles (2024, co-organized with CHAT, Hong Kong), and Pipilotti Rist: Your Eye Is My Island (2021, co-organized with MoMAK). Following a thematic exhibition Thinking about Caring and Motherhood through Contemporary Art (2023), Goto co-developed and continues to lead the center’s access programme, Bridge (between art and care), which focuses on enhancing social inclusion and community-based outreach.

Goto teaches as a visiting lecturer at Tohoku University of Art and Design, Yamagata, Japan.
