Meena Nanji is director and producer of feature documentaries, experimental and fiction shorts. Her films have screened on television and at film festivals internationally and have focused on social-issue and gender rights and representation. She has also worked as curator, festival programmer, and has led filmmaking workshops in India, Afghanistan, Morocco, and Uganda. Her most recent documentary, Our Land, Our Freedom, follows a woman who unearths buried British colonial atrocities in Kenya, as she builds a grassroots movement for land rights and reparations. The film premiered at IDFA, Amsterdam, and has won several awards, including the Thomas Sankara prize at FESPACO.
