Annie Wischmeyer

Annie Wischmeyer is a curator and writer based in Kent, Ohio. She is the Chief Curator for Curated Storefront in Akron, helping to develop new installations and expand the scope of the organization's mission of transforming Akron into a dynamic urban destination through the arts.  For the FRONT Triennial's second edition she served as a part of the curatorial team, overseeing projects across the area with a special focus on ensuring a robust regional presence. She was previously a curator at the Akron Art Museum and Associate Curator of the Hunter College Galleries in New York City, where she organized numerous exhibitions and interdisciplinary public programs.  Since 2020, she and her partner, the artist Shawn Powell, have run Gazebo Gallery from their home, bringing in artists from around the country to stage ephemeral outdoor exhibitions.
