I-Chien Chen is a Taipei-born curator and artist currently based in the U.S. Her curatorial practice engages institutional critique, site-specificity, mobility, and labor. Her current research centers on two ongoing projects: one investigating the choreographies of state power and the mobility of marginalized communities, and another examining the affects of war as mediated by audio culture.
Chen holds an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University and an M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the 2024 Curator-in-Residence at Roots & Culture Contemporary Art Center. Recent curatorial projects include Multi-Maintenance at Roots & Culture and The Install Situation at SITE Gallery.
