Andrea Sofía Matos (b.1999, Bayamón, Puerto Rico) is a curator, writer and arts administrator with a concentration on contemporary art from the Caribbean, and their diasporas. She currently works at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Puerto Rico. She is also the Director of Development for Sabroso!, a curatorial project, art gallery, and advisory based in Puerto Rico. In addition, she co-leads Between Currents, an open-source platform dedicated to supporting, archiving, and inspiring Caribbean cultural production alongside Amanda Bradley and Lauryn Lawrence.

For the past two years (2023-2025), she was the Arts & Wellness Coordinator at Urban Health Plan, where she created and led Arts for Everybody an arts-and-health program that includes a social prescribing initiative and ongoing arts programming and exhibitions within UHP’s network of 12 health centers across the Bronx, Harlem and Queens.

Her latest curatorial projects include Objects of Memory at Black Brick Project in collaboration with Sabroso! (2025), RicanVisions: Global Ancestralities & Embodied Futures at the Latinx Project (2025), ALMA: Echoes of the Nuyorican Movement at Taller Boricua (2025). I come from a place… at Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Brooklyn NY (2024). BotanicÁrte at Taller Boricua, Harlem (2024) and IN-ANIMADA a solo exhibition at Galería SPACE in Guaynabo, PR by artist William Norris Pagán (2023). She has also worked and collaborated with multiple organizations such as Puerto Rico Art News, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, LnSGallery, The Margulies Collection, The Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA), Locust Projects, Bronx Art Museum, and others. Andrea is also the founder of Puerto Rico Arts, an arts instagram and research initiative that focuses on sharing the work and historical context of Puerto Rican artists from the archipelago and the diaspora.

Andrea Sofía holds an MA in Visual Arts Administration from New York University (2024) and received her BA in Art History and Photography from Florida International University (2021).
