Toby Kamps, Head of the Collection of Modern Art at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, has organized solo exhibitions of work by artists including Henri Cartier-Bresson, William N. Copley, Ellsworth Kelly, Danny Lyon, Claes Oldenburg, Luc Tuymans, H.C. Westermann, and Wols (Wolfgang Schulze). His group exhibition and catalogue projects include Silence at the Menil Collection, Houston; The Old, Weird America at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Houston; Small World: Dioramas in Contemporary Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; and Space Is the Place at ICI. Kamps is an editor at large for the Brooklyn Rail and has written texts for numerous exhibition catalogues and art publications.
