Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.
Maayan Sheleff is a Curator at the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA), Tel Aviv, and an independent curator. She is the Assistant Director and a faculty member at the Curatorial Studies Program of the Kibbutzim College of Education and the CCA. In addition she teaches a practical curating course in The Sam Spiegel Film and Television school, Jerusalem, and lectures in various other programs. She has been the Director and curator of Line 16, community Gallery for contemporary art in Tel Aviv, for 4 years. She has initiated and curated many exhibitions in various spaces and in the public sphere, and has been the co-curator of ARTLV09, the 1st Tel Aviv-Yafo Biennial. Maayan participated in the Fall 2011 Curatorial Intensive, Curating in the Public Realm.
