Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.
Supercurator. Contemporary Curatorial Thought Foundation
Łódź, Poland
October 4, 2018 – October 28, 2018
Supercurator. Contemporary Curatorial Thought Foundation, in collaboration with the Łódź Film School, will invite Polish artists and cultural animators to reinterpret the touring exhibition do it during Fall 2018. do it’s edition in Łódź builds off of a rich history of participatory art in the city and the Film School. Łódź was the inaugural location of Construction in Process (Konstrukcja w procesie) curated by Ryszard Wasko, an exhibition of onsite projects by over one hundred local and international artists in Soviet occupied Poland 1981. In 2003 Wasko inaugurated the Focus Biennale Łódź, a continuation of Construction in Process devoted to promoting Polish and foreign interdisciplinary artists. Taking the city’s participatory exhibition history as its starting point, Supercurator’s edition of do it will encourage local artists and show-goers to activate artworks outside of conventional exhibition spaces and cultural institutions.
