Socrates Sculpture Park
New York, NY
May 12 - August 4, 2013

This past summer, the first do it (outside) was presented at the Socrates Sculpture Park in New York from May 12 through August 4, 2013. With Manhattan in the background, this was the first time the exhibition was realized completely outdoors in a public art venue.  Over sixty artist instructions from do it: the compendium were interpreted by local artists, performers, community groups, and the public. The resulting works were installed in and around a structure designed by New York-based Christoff: Finio Architecture to specifically enable the exhibition to take place in the park. At the opening, more than a dozen performing artists selected by the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture interpreted over twenty instructions throughout the day.
