Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town
Cape Town, South Africa
September 4, 2014 – September 13, 2014

For do it at Michaelis School of Fine Art, selected South African artists have been invited to interpret the artists' scores. Each artist has been provided with two do it instructions to choose from – one chosen in relation to their own practice, and one that is randomly selected. Each instruction is completely open to interpretation by the artist. The performative aspects of the instructions encourage everyone to follow, inviting the audience to join the process of making, performing or completing an artist’s work. Audience participation is key. With this is mind, Michaelis School of Fine Art joins the Gordon Institute for Performing and Creative Art’s (GIPCA) Live Arts Festival to create a playful and interactive version of do it.
