Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.

Nora Wendl is a writer, artist and educator who uses disciplinary strategies drawn equally from historiography, creative writing, visual art, and architecture to amplify overlooked or suppressed narratives within the built and unbuilt environment. In 2018, she is artist-in-residence at Santa Fe Art Institute. In 2017, she was awarded a seat at Tin House Writers Workshop to workshop her current manuscript, Glass. Nora holds the position of Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of New Mexico.

Visiting Curator Series
Independent curator Nancy Zastudil and Independent Curators International (ICI) have partnered to initiate the Visiting Curator Series, a biennial program which brings to Albuquerque a select group of curators to conduct studio visits with multiple local artists over the course of several months.
