Giuseppe Campuzano (Lima, 1969–2013) was a performance artist, drag queen, and philosopher who made work that spanned a wide range of disciplines and practices and explored their own understanding of and identity as a trasvesti, a culturally-specific term for transgender experiences in South America. They are best-known for the genre-defying Museo Travesti del Peru, an archival, artistic traveling museum dedicated to a long history of transgender, transsexual, and trasvesti experience in Peru. Founded in 2003, the Museo offers a counter-narrative to dominant histories of gender and normativity. In 2008, Campuzano authored Museo Travesti del Perú, a self-published edition that explored the concepts and contents of the museum. In 2013, Miguel A. López edited Giuseppe Campuzano: Saturday Night Thriller y otros escritos, 1998-2013, an illustrated collection of Campuzano's writings including fiction, essays, graphics, and interviews. Their work has been exhibited at 31st Sao Paulo Biennial (2013), el Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), Museo de Arte de São Paulo (MASP), and at Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid, among others.
