ICI, in partnership with RAW Material Company, presents the Curatorial Intensive in Dakar, Senegal.

With this fourth Intensive in Africa – following past programs in Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, and Marrakech – ICI maintains its commitment to supporting the development of curatorial practice and international networks in Africa. This program is built upon ICI’s collaborations with Koyo Kouoh and RAW Material Company, and coincides with the 12th Edition of the Dak’Art Biennale, curated by Simon Njami. In addition, the Curatorial Intensive will expose participants to the historically vibrant art scene of Dakar, a city known as one of Africa's major sites for artistic and intellectual production.

ICI, en collaboration avec RAW Material Company, a présenté pour la première fois le Curatorial Intensive à Dakar, Sénégal.

Après les Curatorial Intensives d’ICI à Marrakech, Addis Abeba, et Johannesburg, ICI a poursuit son engagement pour la promotion de formations en commissariat artistique en Afrique et le développement des réseaux professionnels régionaux depuis 2013. Ce programme – le quatrième tenu en Afrique – a continu également les collaborations entreprises par ICI avec Koyo Kouoh et RAW Material Company ; il a aussi tenu au moment de la 12e édition de Dak’Art Biennale, dont Simon Njami est le commissaire. D’autre part, le Curatorial Intensive a offert des contacts étroits avec la scène artistique dynamique de Dakar, une ville qui reste l’un des lieux majeurs de la production intellectuelle et artistique en Afrique.

About RAW Material Company
RAW Material Company is a center for art, knowledge and society established in Dakar, Senegal in 2008. It is an art initiative involved with artistic education, residencies, knowledge production, and the archiving of theory and criticism. It works to foster appreciation and growth of artistic and intellectual creativity in Africa. The program is trans-disciplinary and is informed equally by urbanity, literature, film, architecture, politics, fashion, cuisine, and diaspora.

RAW Material Company est un centre pour l'art, le savoir, et la société. C'est une initiative qui s'articule autour du commissariat d'exposition, de la commande d'art, du partage des savoirs et de la documentation sur la théorie et la critique d'art. L'espace travaille pour la croissance et l'appréciation de la créativité artistique et intellectuelle en Afrique. La raison fondamentale de son programme est la foi en l'art comme outil adéquat pour le changement de perspectives et l'incitation à l'engagement pour la pratique artistique comme sentier viable pour la transformation sociale et politique.
