LIMITED TIME ONLY (LTO) presents MAD-LIB[rary] Vol. 3 at Independent Curators International (ICI), in partnership with the Feminist Press.

The creative collaborative and production team LIMITED TIME ONLY (Legacy Russell, Stina Puotinen, and Sarah Giovanniello) invite you to join an exciting new “choose-your-own-adventure” hosted at the ICI Curatorial Hub.

The MAD-LIB[rary] will be an opportunity for the public to participate in true Mad Lib fashion in a zany, surreal, Dada-inspired, and perhaps nonsensical assemblage extravaganza. MAD-LIB[rary] invites artists and writers—an explosive combination of luminaries and rising stars—to contribute limited edition material of their choice.

The event will provide attendees from the realms of the art and literary worlds alike an opportunity to curate their own magazine or booklet content, and B-Y-O-creative-vision. Paying homage to the histories of literature, art, book-art, found art, flea markets, and book fairs, MAD-LIB[rary] provides an alternative from the glossy, pre-packaged culture of mass media.

MAD-LIB[rary] is all at once a living archive, a museum, a magazine, a madness—on July 16, get crazy with us!

Legacy Russell

Legacy Russell is a writer, artist, and curator. She has worked at and produced programs for The Bruce High Quality Foundation, Creative Time, the Brooklyn Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. Legacy is one-third of the curatorial production team Limited Time Only. In September 2011, she was appointed as Art Editor of BOMB Magazine’s renowned online journal, BOMBlog, where she has since stayed on as a Contributing Editor. Outside of BOMB, her work can be found in a variety of publications: The White Review, DIS, Canteen, The Society Pages, Guernica, Berfrois, and beyond. A candidate for an MRes of Visual Culture at Goldsmiths College at University of London, her creative and academic work explores mourning, remembrance, iconography, and idolatry within the public realm. Her performance, The Kiss, will debut in collaboration with Clifford Owens at Danspace in New York fall 2013.

Stina Puotinen

Stina Puotinen was born in New York City, raised in Baltimore, and has been back in Brooklyn since 2004. She received her BA in Art History at Vassar College, and fell into the world of Museum Education as her career, though secretly moonlighting as an artist and curator all the while. She has worked as an Educator at several leading arts institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Jewish Museum, the Noguchi Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and currently works in the Education Department of the Whitney Museum of American Art. Born out of her work in Museums, literally and ideologically, is her work as Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of CHERYL, a four-member, semi-anonymous, often cat-masked artist collective based in Brooklyn, and the recent launch of the creative collaborative and curatorial production team, Limited Time Only.

Sarah Giovanniello

Sarah Giovanniello is an independent curator, writer and researcher from Washington, DC, by way of Philadelphia. She was the Research Assistant in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum, where supported the programming, exhibitions, and collection research and development since 2008. Sarah is currently busy with several curatorial collaborations including the Bad Feminist Reading Series and Limited Time Only, along with ongoing performance research and writings. She holds a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MA in Performance Studies from NYU.

LIMITED TIME ONLY (LTO) is a creative collaboration and curatorial production team. “Limited Time” speaks to the time we allow ourselves to think (and play) outside the banalities of the day-to-day, and “Only”—well, that means it’s made just for you. LTO will encompass the sometimes sporadic and spontaneous nature of the events we make for you to enjoy.

Feminist Press

Feminist Press is an independent nonprofit literary publisher that promotes freedom of expression and social justice. We publish exciting authors who share an activist spirit and a belief in choice and equality. Founded in 1970, FP began by rescuing “lost” works by writers such as Zora Neale Hurston and Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and established their publishing program with books by American writers of diverse racial and class backgrounds. Since then they have also been bringing works from around the world to North American readers. FP seeks out innovative, often surprising books that tell a different story.
