Independent Curators International (ICI) supports the work of curators to help create stronger art communities through experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement. Curators are arts community leaders and organizers who champion artistic practice; build essential infrastructures and institutions; and generate public engagement with art. Our collaborative programs connect curators across generations, and across social, political and cultural borders. They form an international framework for sharing knowledge and resources — promoting cultural exchange, access to art, and public awareness for the curator’s role.
Sofía Gallisá Muriente
Sofía Gallisá Muriente is a visual artist who works mainly with video, photography, text and installation. Through multiple approaches to documentation, she combines formal and informal archives, mainstream media, popular imaginaries and oral history in order to deepen the subjectivity of historical narratives. Her work has been presented in the San Juan Poligraphic Triennial, Teorética, the Walker Art Center and the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires. She’s currently one of the co-directors of Beta-Local, an organization dedicated to promoting critical and aesthetic thought and practices in Puerto Rico.
